Activities and Program

Ensuring healthy mind and body every day of the week

“To ensure good health: eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life.”

-William Londen

The Village Activities Team demonstrates a unique degree of energy, creativity and passion for their position. Each building has its own Activities Director, who meets with residents monthly to hear comments, ideas, and suggestions on the overall activities program. The Activities Director then uses this feedback to plan and develop the monthly Activities calendar. The result is a full and diverse program that is continually evolving. Our 31-acre wooded campus lends itself well to our diverse program. Tried and true outdoor

favorites include Sunset concerts, a summertime tradition here at The Village, the lake providing a spectacular backdrop to the renowned musicians who perform, seasonal boat rides on Waterman Lake, and our competitive bocce tournaments. Seasonal events keep familiar traditions alive for all. Annual art exhibits, live performances in all genres of entertainment, and regular theatre outings help residents remain culturally and artistically active.

Where to Next?

And of course we love our trips! Village outings to area attractions, local hot spots and favorite eateries are a regular part of the monthly Activities calendar. Recent trips include an array of popular dining destinations as well as cultural attractions such as visual performances and orchestras.

Movement Matters

Exercise is important at any age, but has particular value in the life of seniors. Regular exercise can help seniors maintain the ability to live independently and reduces the risk of falling and fracturing bones. In addition, exercise offers significant health benefits such as a healthier heart, stronger bones and improved flexibility. We offer a variety of opportunities to stay active like walking clubs, bocce, putting, floor bowling and sittercise, just to name a few. We are also the founders and sponsors of the renowned statewide senior exercise program, BoneBuilders of RI, which we offer several times a week in all our buildings.
